Hearing Aids
Most leading hearing aid manufacturers — including Phonak, Oticon, Widex, ReSound, Unitron, Signia, Starkey and Bernafon — produce the main styles of hearing aids: Receiver-in-Canal (RIC), In-the-Ear (ITE) and Behind-the-Ear (BTE), each offering different levels of power, discretion and connectivity to suit a wide range of hearing needs

Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)
Small and discreet; sits behind the ear with a thin wire to a speaker in the canal.
In-the-Ear (ITE)
Custom-moulded to your ear; available from full-shell to almost invisible in-canal models.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
Robust and powerful; ideal for significant hearing loss or those wanting easy handling.
Brands we work with

At Somerset Hearing, we pride ourselves on being an independent private hearing care provider with a distinctive approach.
Why independence matters to Jon Cade, the Founder of Somerset Hearing:
Our commitment to independence is a cornerstone of our philosophy. It means we maintain an unbiased stance towards products, pricing preferences, or any financial affiliations.
Our sole dedication is to match the right hearing technology with the right individual. Every manufacturer offers unique advantages and excels in different areas.
Before we even discuss hearing aids, your consultation begins with listening to your needs and understanding the situations you find most challenging. We then explore all available options — every style and brand — and establish your personal hearing goals. Together, we decide on the best brand and style for your hearing, lifestyle and budget.
You’ll also receive a clear, written hearing report summarising your test results and goals, giving you the confidence to make an informed choice.
We assess all products before recommending them to our clients and share our insights on the latest hearing technology in our [blog].
