01
Intial Consultation
Your visit will start with understanding you, during which we’ll discuss your hearing concerns and medical history. We’ll ask about any challenges you're experiencing, whether it's difficulty hearing in certain situations or any specific sounds you struggle with.
Understanding your lifestyle and daily hearing experiences helps us tailor the test to your individual circumstances and ensures we’re addressing your specific needs. This is also an ideal time for you to ask any questions or raise any concerns.
02
Otoscopy Examination
Before we begin the hearing test, we’ll perform an otoscopy, where we inspect your ear canal and eardrum using a small, specialised instrument.
This helps us identify any blockages, such as earwax, or potential medical conditions that could be impacting your hearing. If earwax is present, we can arrange for its removal to ensure the hearing test results are as accurate as possible.
03
Pure Tone Audiometry
Next, we conduct a pure tone audiometry test, one of the most common and effective ways to assess your hearing. You’ll wear headphones and listen to a series of tones at different pitches and volumes.
When you hear a sound, you simply press a button. This test allows us to map out your level hearing across a range of frequencies, helping to identify any hearing loss.
04
Speech Audiometry
To gain a better understanding of how your hearing functions in real-world situations, we may perform a speech audiometry test. This test measures your ability to hear and understand speech, both in quiet environments and with background noise. You’ll be asked to repeat words and sentences spoken at different volumes. The results help us determine how well your hearing processes speech and if hearing aids may be beneficial for improving clarity.
05
Tympanometry
In some cases, we may also carry out a tympanometry test to examine how well your middle ear is functioning. This involves changing the air pressure in your ear canal to see how your eardrum responds. It can help us detect any issues, such as fluid build-up, eardrum perforations, or problems with the small bones in the middle ear.
